Waiting for Godot

By Samuel Beckett

Friday 18th September 2026 – Saturday 3rd October 2026

Directed by Janice Muller

Starring Tim Heath, Gus Read-Hill and Luke Lennox, with Tim Rogers as Pozzo

Following on from the success of their inaugural production, The Seagull, which was close to sold out across the season, The Ravens Theatre Company returns to the Phee Broadway Theatre with Samuel Beckett's iconic masterpiece, Waiting for Godot.

Two men wait beside a tree for the mysterious Godot.

As time passes, Vladimir and Estragon talk, argue, joke, dream, contemplate leaving, and remain exactly where they are. Their waiting is interrupted by the unforgettable arrival of Pozzo and Lucky, but Godot does not come.

At once deeply philosophical, moving and wonderfully funny, Waiting for Godot explores companionship, uncertainty, hope and the absurdity of waiting. Blending vaudeville comedy with some of life's biggest questions, it offers no simple answers, and remains as startling, original and relevant today as when it was first performed.

Written in French by Samuel Beckett and first performed in Paris in 1953, Waiting for Godot transformed modern theatre. Beckett later translated the play into English himself, and it has since been performed around the world by many of the theatre world's finest actors and companies. More than 70 years after its premiere, it continues to fascinate, challenge and delight audiences.

Directed by acclaimed theatre-maker Janice Muller, this new Ravens production brings together co-founder Tim Heath and his childhood friend Gus Read-Hill, alongside talented local actor Luke Lennox and Tim Rogers as Pozzo.

Best known as the lead singer and frontman of You Am I, Rogers is also an accomplished actor. His stage credits include productions for Malthouse Theatre, Belvoir, Griffin Theatre Company and Melbourne Theatre Company, as well as performances across film and television.

Following the near sell-out season of The Seagull, audiences are encouraged to book early. This is a strictly limited season and seating is allocated.

The Seagull

By Anton Chekhov, adapted by Anya Reiss

Friday 12th June 2026 – Saturday 27th June 2026

Directed by Jane Montgomery Griffiths

This was the premiere performance for The Ravens Theatre Company, launching in June 2026 with The Seagull in Anya Reiss's brilliant contemporary adaptation. A bold reimagining of Chekhov's classic, the production brought timeless themes into the modern world - performed by local actors and creatives. It was the first step in building a bright, contemporary future for theatre in Castlemaine.

The Seagull is a dark and moving play punctuated by moments of levity. A young woman is desperate for fame and a way out. A young man is pining after the woman of his dreams. A successful writer longs for a sense of achievement. An actress wants to fight the changing of the times. In an isolated home in the countryside, dreams lie in tatters, hopes are dashed, and hearts broken. With nowhere left to turn, where do you go?
